The successful candidate will complete all necessary physical tasks required by a graduate assistant with a physical disability employed by Daemen College and working within the Thomas Reynolds Center for Special Education and After-School  Programs .  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks, including, but not limited to: cutting, gluing, stapling, laminating, copying, writing as dictated by graduate assistant/employee, obtain necessary curricula from shelves as requested by graduate assistant/employee, organizing student supplies, setting up classroom, prepare materials for lessons as specified by the graduate assistant/employee, setting up snack time for student participants, obtaining laptops for student use,  arranging student chairs and desks/tables,  taking notes during professional development trainings, and assisting with the physical tasks of group work during all trainings.

The successful candidate will take direction from the graduate assistant/employee in order to ensure that the physical demands of the employment are met.  The graduate assistant/ employee will engage in all intellectual, communicative and collaborative aspects of the employment position.  The position held by the selected candidate does not include personal care aide responsibilities or transportation. 

The successful candidate will need to have transportation to Daemen College as needed, and will pursue finger print clearance as directed by the employer in order to qualify to regularly enter public school buildings and work with the graduate assistant/employee in the company of children.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma

Maintains a respectful, professional disposition toward people with physical disabilities

The selected candidate must be available to assist the graduate assistant/employee from August 2013-August 2014 with dates varying, except during the months of October –April. During that time, the selected candidate must be available to assist the graduate assistant/employee 16-20 hours per week as dictated by the needs of the After-School Program.
